The dramatic opening of "THE SCROLLS" by the pianos is
a statement that this composition is A SONG, A MASS, and A REQUIEM,
for the THIRD MILLENNIUM.
Part
one (1) and part two (2) both having instrumental openings...Plus
two (2) other movements for instruments only. Part One (1) has a
movement "MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE UNTO THE LORD". Where every
player improvises for one (1) min. Part Two (2) has a
"HYMN". The vocal part of "THE SCROLLS" opens
with the word "DAMN". A word not expected to be heard
in a religious composition. But chosen for that reason. "Damn
to the Flesh that depends on the Soul, Damn to the Soul that depends
on the Flesh". Contrasts in choice of lyrics is characteristic
in "THE SCROLLS".
FROM:
DAMN to the Flesh that depends on the Soul...
TO:
"Wrapped and sleep in a blanket of faith, in which there is
no defeat"...
From:
"How beautiful are your Breasts.."
TO:
"Be still and know that i am GOD".

PART TWO (2) of "THE SCROLLS" opens with a very expressive
song-like melody. Played by the French horn, Later joined by a trumpet.
Just as in Part one (1) The first word was a shocking so part two
(2) open'S up with the word's "ON THE EIGHT DAY". Yes
we are so used to hear that creation took place in seven (7) days,
we even have a seven (7) day week. After hearing the trumpet playing
the eight (8) notes, we hear "On the eight day....."

THE SCROLL Climaxes in the last movement, with: "I SING TO
THE SOURCE OF ALL LIFE".As the versatility of character and
moods is clearly heard in each bar and each movement. Movements
carrying it's own original statement in many diverse ways. The originality
is
there. But the proof of understanding depends on the listener's
ear.
In conclusion:
IN BC. THERE WHERE "THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS".
