so varied that it will support structures of considerable length and
complexity. For example, his Suite for Double Bass is a multi-layered
work, comparing and contrasting wide and narrow tonal areas, devices
idiomatic to the instrument, and passages uncommon to it. In this music,
as in many of Tautenhahn's compositions, instrumental tone color becomes
a structural factor."
